These days, more people are interested in buying books from online shops rather than in physical bookstores. The same is true in Finland. A good number of online bookshops selling Finnish books are now operating today. But while scouring through online bookshelves may seem to be more convenient and economical, you might want to first consider the strengths and weaknesses of investing in physical books over their electronic counterparts, or vice versa. Doing so will help you greatly to evaluate your exact needs and purchase the book that would be able to satisfy them.

Finnish E-books
• They are more portable, thus, making them easier to carry around. Compared to physical books, e-books are a much better option particularly to those who are always on the go. If you like bringing your book collection with you when you travel, then buying Finnish kristillinen kirjakauppa would be an ideal choice for you.
• E-books sold on online bookstores are a lot cheaper compared to physical books. So, if you are looking to save money, then ebooks are your best bet.
• Another great benefit of buying ebooks is the fact that they are much easy to store since you can just simply save them to your ebook reader or to your portable media storage dev ice. You don’t have to install a bookshelf or take up space on your cramped room since ebooks are meant to be stored on your ebook reader or any hand-held device.

Physical Books
• Buying actual book copies in Finland bookstores is ideal for readers who collect books. Remember that you can never resale an ebook. So if you are planning to put up your book collection for sale in the future, then you will be better off buying actual copies of your favorite book titles.
• Physical books don’t require you to buy a hand-held device, unlike with ebooks. Although the price of ebook readers these days have gone down dramatically, they can still be quite pricey for frugal buyers. So if you are not a techie person, acquiring physical book titles is a better choice for you.

Math is perhaps one of the subjects that first graders have very little interest in. Even when I was kid, I really don’t find Math all that great. In fact, it is my least favorite subject. If your first grader child is having difficulty grasping Math, one great way to make this less appealing subject more interesting is by introducing Math in the form of an interesting game. 1st grade math games now abound online. They are made to challenge the little ones and also to improve their interest towards the subject. Since math games are made to catch the kids attention and encourage interaction, children will find first grade math games exciting and fun.

Rather than sticking with the boring math studying routine, the little ones will develop more interest to the subject if you allow them to play challenging math games. These types of educational games will help them improve their problem solving ability, develop their computation skills and boost their conceptual understanding. Studies have also demonstrated that kids playing math games showed great improvement in their math test scores and also classroom performance. So if you want the little ones to grow fond of Math, then allow them to play enticing and stimulating 1st grade math games.

One of the most crucial times for a young girl’s social development is her middle school years. This is the time when she starts to establish peer relationships and it is also the period when developmental issues begin to emerge. Problems or issues about self-esteem may also arise during this time. Other concerns involving control and power may also materialize as your girl enters the middle school years.

To know if your daughter is experiencing poor social development, take a look at the following signs:

She has no friends or inconsistent in her friendships.

Loses her identity when she’s with her friends.

Can’t make eye contacts with other people.

She has poor hygiene as compared to other middle school students.

Overly concerned with the opposite sex or displays intense sexual behavior.

Some of the most serious issues faced by middle school girls are:

They may not be “social thinkers”.

They could have learning or developmental disability.

Some may have Asperger’s Syndrome, a high-functioning form of autism.

Your daughter may be a victim of bullying, verbal, physical or sexual abuse.

Remember that protecting your childrens health doesn’t only mean ensuring that they eat the right kinds of food. As parents, you should also be aware of the common social problems faced by middle school girls. Help address these issues by consulting a professional mental health personnel. You can also consider outside interventions to help your children. A good support or social group can provide the girls with the social skills that they need to maintain a healthy social life. Ultimately, the love and support of parents are important to ensure that their children grow the right way.

Know that anyone is entitled to become a foster carer. But of course, it is important that you possess the qualities that fostering agencies look for. It is vital that you are capable of looking after the child that you will be fostering. Foster care means that a child who can’t live with his/her own family will be assigned to live with a foster family who will open their hearts and treat the fostered child as their own.

Foster carers are tasked to provide temporary care to the child that they will be fostering. Like what their real parents would do, foster carers will help the child sort out problems, and also to overcome the difficulties he/she might be facing with life.

Whether you are single, married, with or without kids, own a home or renting, you are welcome to apply to be a foster carer. If you are really interested in becoming one, then you should find fostering agencies near the area where you live.

When you contact the local foster agency, you should arrange or schedule a meeting. The representative sent by the agency will explain to you thoroughly what you will be getting yourself into. During the meeting, you will also learn more about fostering which will later help you determine if you are really a suitable foster carer.

Kids these days have become slaves of their techie devices. Whether it is an iPad, iPhone, tablet PC or laptop, the young ones won’t be able to leave the house without their gadgets. And even if they are at home, they are usually in front of the pc talking to their friends via Skype, playing online games or posting blogs. Looking at this, social media definitely has a big impact amongst the next generation. In fact, it has already become a part of their daily lives.

My niece, who is currently in middle school, cannot end the day without checking her Facebook page. My brother and sister-in-law are actually worried that she might be spending too much time in the internet. Although they have already set rules when it comes to the use of the internet during school days, kids today will always find a way around it.

Social media has certainly changed the way kids, and even adults, meet, socialize, communicate and interact with people. With the accessibility and convenience offered by social networking sites, meeting new people from around the world can now be done wherever you are so long as an internet connection is present. In addition to that, sharing all kinds of information is much faster through social media sites, like Facebook and Twitter. I’m actually amazed by how fast news travels in social networking sites. In fact, most of the shocking news of last year, like the death of Kim Jong-il, spread like virus in Facebook and Twitter. Since I do not watch news on tv much, social media sites have become a great place to get updated news on what’s happening around the world.

In a world dominated by technology, children, especially tweens and teens, now have easy access to almost everything. The birth of social media boosted information accessibility and enhanced social interaction. While social media brings convenience, it also comes with certain dangers and safety risks that parents should be concerned of. Indeed, the birth of social media has provided the next generation a convenient way of communicating and keeping in touch with their friends, boosted their learning opportunities and given them ease of accessibility to information. However, parents should be aware that not everything in the virtual world is good for their children.

The next generation is not the only ones that have been changed by social media. Even predators, who were once confined in online chat rooms, are now lurking around social networking sites. The immediate connection and instant access offered by social media sites have given predators the perfect platform to gain access to teen information which they can use to victimize them. Predators, these days, are not only those with insatiable desire for young bodies (pedophiles). The convenience and accessibility provided by social media sites is now being used as a tool for cyberbullying, cyberstalking and all other kinds of cyber abuse that any teen can be subjected to.

Although teens are very much aware of the dangers of inappropriately using social media and the internet, many of them are willing to take the risk just so they can fit in with the ‘cool kids’. Because of this, kids, nowadays, are widely exposed to harassment, as well as foul comments, which can cause psychological damage to their fragile minds. Knowing this, parents must supervise their children particularly with regards to the use of social media. Too much dependence on technology absolutely has negative effects and so is sharing too much information online. While, not everything about social media can be seen as negative, parents should assume an active role in monitoring their kids’ use of the internet, particularly the different forms of social media. As parents, it is important that you teach your kids how they can protect themselves from the lurking threats online while reaping the positive benefits of using social media.

Have you noticed that your middle school child seems unenthusiastic and pallid every time he comes home? According to research, depression is not only experienced by adults but also by the young ones. Middle school children suffer depression in their social life, self-esteem and schoolwork. Oftentimes, depression among children is mistaken for other problems like eating disorders and attention deficit disorder. If you want to know whether or not your child is undergoing this mental issue, take a look at the following symptoms:

He has decreased interests on things he used to love

Low energy

Frequent crying

Extreme sensitivity to rejection

Poor social life

Feelings of guilt

Destructive ideas

Thoughts and behaviors on suicide

Physical ailments or frequent illnesses

Childhood depression may be caused by family, school and social problems. If you notice several of the mentioned symptoms on your child, seek for professional health assistance right away. You must accompany your son/daughter to a therapist or a licensed psychiatrist. Your child might be prescribed to take antidepressant medications or undergo depression management methods to help dissipate the condition. Above all, parental support is also indispensable when it comes to treating middle school depression among the young ones.

While understanding depression among middle school kid may not be as easy as picking great womens shorts, by doing your own research and by watching out for the aforementioned symptoms you will be able to know whether your child is suffering from it or not.

The evolution of this world into a modern one brought many significant changes in humanity—from the Stone Age to the Age of Computers and now the Internet, so many things have indeed changed. In the olden times, children play with traditional toys such as dolls and homemade toys like kites and cars made of cans. They communicate to their parents and other people by starting up a conversation or sending snail mails. Fast forward to the present era and what do you see?

Televisions, computers, cell phones, tablet pcs, toys operating on batteries or electricity, and the list goes on. Several decades ago, having a gadget that could do almost everything with just a tap of a finger was just a dream. With the genius minds and skillful hands of technology innovators, we now have the iPad, iPhone, tablets and other high-tech devices that have made our lives easier, more convenient and faster. This is what they call the Digital Age, and we’re all living now in a Digital World.

Along with the Digital Age revolutionizing our way of living comes with some disadvantages—losing our grip on our privacy, safety and even health. In the recent years, there have been hundreds of reports about the cases of children being bullied on social networks. As a result, some kids commit suicide. On the other hand, the Internet has also paved the way for predators to lurk on social networking sites victimizing unsuspecting teens. Sexual assaults and abuses have also been committed via texts and e-mails. Our Facebook posts about our exact locations could also lead to something unfortunate like theft and other crimes.

Children and teenagers get hooked in front of the flat screen TV or the laptop’s monitor for hours every day, making them forget that they have homework to do and household chores to accomplish. Families also tend to lose bonding moments and quality time because everyone in the family is busy entertaining herself or himself with his or her new gadget.

As a parent, you have the responsibility to guide your young ones regarding the proper usage of technology. There’s nothing wrong in using Twitter or uploading pictures in Tumblr, just make sure that your child knows his or her limitations when it comes to posting personal information in the virtual world. Technology is a powerful tool which can be compared to a double-bladed knife—it can be beneficial and at the same time harmful, so take time to be with your children and teach them the right way to make use of these advancements.

Unlike before, tweens (kids ages 9-12) now have easy access to the internet. Because of this, parents should take time to talk to their kids about the proper and safe use of the internet. While the World Wide Web provides us with extreme accessibility and utmost convenience, safety issues has become a growing concern amongst parents of tech-savvy tweens. Pre-teens or kids in middle school utilize the internet to do a variety of tasks including:

schoolwork

playing online games

researching

emailing

music downloading/streaming

instant messaging

shopping, and a lot more

Since kids spend a lot of time in the internet they can easily find their way around it. While their knowledge about the internet may be extensive, they are not mature enough to make good judgment calls. Tweens, although they do not wish to be treated like little kids anymore, are still, afterall, vulnerable children who are incapable of controlling their impulses. Most often than not, they do things on impulse. Therefore, it is really important that parents guide their children to ensure that they will nog get into any kind of trouble when using the internet.

If you think that allowing your tweens to use the internet without proper supervision is alright, then you should think again. Tweens still lack maturity and are therefore vulnerable to a lot of things online. To help you get a better picture of how unsafe the internet can be to tweens, here are some of the common online threats to pre-teens or middle school users.

Cyberbullies

Sexual predators

Online Fraud

Indecent photo uploads

Illegal downloading

Meeting or chatting with shady individuals

The internet does not set limitations on the content and information that tweens can access. In addition, since young people pay great importance to socializing, their interactions online can become really intense. The things they post in their blogs or other things they put on their social media profiles (i.e. pictures) may also be used against them. Therefore, it is vital that you teach your children not to reveal too much on the internet. Also, tell them not to share information with people they just met online.

Tweens are entering a transitional phase wherein they are curious about a lot of things, and the internet can get them overly excited. Therefore, before they get into trouble, monitoring their internet activity wouldn’t be such a bad idea but just make sure that you do not overdo it to the point of invading their privacy.

Middle school typically refers to the transition phase between elementary school and high school, and usually spans the ages 9-14 years old. As this level of schooling coincides with the start of early adolescence, it is usually a very taxing time for both the child and the parents. This period is generally marked by changes in attitudes, emotional responsiveness and social behavior on the part of the middle school kid, all of which may be daunting for any parent. Thus, there is a need for parents and educators alike to make an effort to understand how middle school kids think and feel, if they are to foster a healthy relationship between them. It is true that understanding transitioning tweens is not as easy as picking a policy from Sovereign Insurance. But this is crucial stage in your child’s life and they will surely need you more than ever.

According to a research done by a leading child psychologist, middle-schoolers typically display egocentric behavior. They tend to assume that the world revolves around them, and usually becomes more self-conscious, especially regarding other people’s opinion of them. It is also found that middle-school kids are already able to practice deductive reasoning, symbol manipulation and object classification.

Due to the rapid changes in your child’s physical, mental and emotional capacities, parents of middle school kids should expect an assertion of freedom and independence from the child. Parents are enjoined to carefully monitor this stage, since this is when kids start to demand more liberty to decide, and this is when the child’s principles and beliefs are slowly being developed.

In the final analysis, gaining an understanding of your middle-school kid will make for an easier time for both parties when the child finally reaches the dreaded teenage years. While it is true that middle schoolers can be unpredictable and dealing with them is more difficult than applying for a life insurance, with patience and understanding you and middle school child will definitely pass this stage with flying colors.
